If you’re like most enterprises, you have a variety of Office products floating around. Office 2010 and 2013 can be a bit of a pain sometimes to register correctly. These tips will help you out.

How to Activate Microsoft Office 2010 and Office 2013
With any Microsoft Office application open:
- Click File Menu
- Click Help
- On right side, look for Product Activated or similar text
- If you see Activate Product Key in the Help menu then click on it
- Follow the steps in wizard until complete
- You will need an Internet connection for this
How to Change a Product Key in Microsoft Office 2010 and Office 2013
Quick Category View
- Go to Control Panel
- Click on Programs and Features
- Click the Microsoft Office application
- Right-click on the application and click on Change
- Select Enter a Product Key and supply your 25-digit license key to activate
Detailed List View
- Go to Control Panel
- Click on Programs
- Click on Uninstall A Program
- Click the Microsoft Office application
- Right-click on the application and click on Change
- Select Enter a Product Key and supply your 25-digit license key to activate
Repair Option
Instead of selecting Change, select Repair installation. You may be asked to re-enter your product key.
Activation error: “Sorry, we are having some temporary server issues.”
There are boxes to click Try again and Cancel. Selecting Try again never seems to work. Instead, try this:
- Open registry editor (regedit.exe)
- Find HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Internet\WebServiceCache\AllUsers\office15client.microsoft.com
- Delete all the subfolders of the … \office15client.microsoft.com folder.
This should immediately fix the problem.
Note: It would be a good idea to back up your registry before you modify anything.
